Thanks for the hits

Big thanks to all those who have been dropping by this blog.

I was surprised that in spite of my 5-month leave and no post at all, my blog was still receiving on average 30 hits a day. Many reached this blog through search engines with the tags in my past posts.

The day I resumed blogging, I had 58 hits. Not bad for starting this blog all over again.

Cheers!

A convert

This former strongman who shunned free press in the past is not only a press freedom convert.

He has turned to blogging to write his thoughts and present his opinions. And he is willing to go to jail for it!

2nd Mindanao bloggers summit

Best wishes to all Mindanao bloggers who are attending the 2nd summit at General Santos City starting today.

I would not be able to make it to the Tuna Capital of the Philippines to attend the conference. I am confident though of its success following last year’s inaugural summit held here in Davao City.

With the likes of Avel of Bariles Republic at the helm and supported by the The Usual Suspects who were involved the 1st summit, things are indeed looking bright for the relevance of bloggers in this part of the virtual world.

I am truly happy that our ranks are expanding although I feel frustrated that not many public officials answered our own calls for them to use this new tool to promote government-to-citizen and citizen-to-government (G2C-C2G) communication.

Maybe by the 3rd summit more public officials, by the proximity of the 2010 elections, would embrace blogging.

Cheers!

It’s our blog anniversary today. We’re 1 year old! Horrayyyy!

Thank you so much for your visits, your comments and your links to our blog and posts. Without you, this blog is nothing. Here are our milestones:

Incidentally, here are fitting gifts for our anniversary. We reached the following highs yesterday – No. 2 in Top Blogs Philippines and No. 5 in Top Blogs (US), both in Political Categories:

Salamat! Big thanks to all of you!

Blog rank

Time to say thank you once again to our faithful readers and visitors. Daghang salamat. Thank you very much!

Since I returned to active blogging the past month and renewed my listing in some blog directories, here’s how we fared in the Politics Category of the following:

No. 13 in the Top of Blogs

No. 3 in Blogs on Top, and

No. 3 too at the Top Blogs Philippines.

Yehey! When my blog went inactive for about a month last May, my stats went awful. Now, they have improved considerably. Congratulations everyone!

Sunday quiz 2

I took this blog quiz to find out the film rating of my blog. Here’s the result:

Only the word “poop” was distasteful in my posts. Ha ha ha!

For real film ratings, use this helpful tool. I checked Hellboy II, Hancock and The Dark Knight and all were PG 13.

Sunday quiz

Do I write or talk too much?

Nah, my posts contain only on average 68 words!

Join the list

This is an experiment to test how long it would take to list 1,000,000 blogs out there.

Join the fun here. I listed myself and my blog is No. 1,878.

Lucky number, ha?

Back online

OMG I didn’t realize it has been over a month now since my last post. I moved to a new house and it took me a while to adjust to a life without internet service.

Now, I’m back online.

Sorry for our regular visitors who must have wondered what happened to this blog. I guess I need to rebuild my lost readers. I checked my stats and they’re awful. Gone where the days when I got hundreds of visits a day.

While offline, I missed plenty of things. I hope to catch up commenting on them in the near future. But here’s one good news that I feel strongly about. Another elected official has started blogging, according to Cyberbaguioboy.

Let’s all welcome Gov. Ed Panlilio of Pampanga!

Meanwhile, here’s an update on “In the News”

Back to post

Hello dear friends!

Sorry for the long absence. I could not log on to my blog since November 8. Everytime I opened this blog, a universal dashboard appears and I cannot open my own blog.

Good that it’s ok now. I would later tonight reply to those who posted comments during the past three weeks. Thank you so much for visiting in spite of my predicament.

I am now about to leave for the following activities today.

9 a.m. – 7th Araw ng Magtuod to represent City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte;

10 a.m. – Club 888 media forum at Marco Polo Hotel;

2 p.m. – TechnoKapihan with ICT advocates at SM Mall;

3 p.m. – Davao City High Alumni Association Meeting at Sunburst Resto;

6 p.m. – Opening night of Let The Good Times Roll, the city’s newest music restobar

100; 1000

No this is not about binary numbers. It’s the projected price of oil and gold in US Dollars, respectively, in the coming months.

Yup things move up so fast these days that we can hardly breath to take stock of many developments.

I lost net connection for several days during the past week that had two holidays (village polls and All Saints’ Day). So, I was not able to post for over a week. Thanks to those who visited my blog and commented on my previous posts. But sorry for not replying on time.

At the 1st Mindanao Bloggers Summit last week, I reiterated my frustrations over the lack of interest among public officials to blog and use this new tool to reach out to their constituents. For the past year and a half, I have been promoting blogging as tool for participatory governance but I got little support.

There are now an estimated 200,000 bloggers in the country. Yet, we can only count a few public officials among them. Here is a most welcome blog by a veteran outstanding mayor. Like me, he is an oddball.

I dream of the day when we can reach 100, then 1000 elected officials blogging in the country. That way, I am sure we can make a big difference in this, sadly, indifferent world.

Mindanao Bloggers’ Summit

I arrived shortly before 8 a.m. at the NCCC Mall for this big day. It’s the 1st Mindanao Bloggers’ Summit.

First to arrive at the conference site was Paul, a student blogger from Ateneo de Davao, then I followed. It took another ten minutes before our emcee Migs arrived. Charles came in next.

Here’s the day’s program. Tonight we unwind with a Bloggers’ party at Habana Compound.
